New Tools For Fighting Lung Cancer

The size of the problem
There are 25 lakh cancer patients in this country. Ten new cases of detection lakh per year and 4 lakh people lost there life to cancer. Cancer is the third biggest cause of death in our country. Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers in India. The most common cause of cancer death in men and second most common cause of death in women (after breast cancer). Cancer is responsible for only 13 lakh deaths worldwide every year.
Causes and risk factors for lung cancer
1. Tobacco is the single biggest cause —- Smoking, especially cigarettes and finally donors, especially lung cancer. Development around the world, nearly 90% of deaths caused by smoking. Secondhand smoke also can cause lung cancer.2. Air pollution – industrial vehicles emit gases and cancer.
